Ronny Rodriguez had a pair of two-run homers and drove in five runs, and the host Detroit Tigers overcame a record-setting Minnesota Twins power display to snap a six-game losing streak with a 10-7 win Saturday.

Detroit tied its season high for most runs in an inning with seven in the third. Matthew Boyd (7-10) collected his first win since July 4, allowing five runs in six innings and striking out 11.

The Twins went deep six times Saturday to reach 268 homers for the season, surpassing the single-season mark of 267 set by the New York Yankees a year ago.

Mitch Garver set the mark with a solo shot off Joe Jimenez in the ninth. Nelson Cruz hit the record tying homer, a mammoth 450-foot blast to center off Buck Farmer in the eighth.

Garver led off the game with a homer. Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco and C.J. Cron also homered for the Twins, who saw their six-game winning streak snapped. They had also won eight straight on the road.

Polanco's 20th homer, a two-run shot in the fifth, set another home run record. Minnesota is the first team to have eight players with 20 or more long balls.

Twins starter Martin Perez (9-6) gave up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Garver hit his third leadoff homer of the season when he ripped a 2-0 offering from Boyd over the left field wall.

The Tigers responded with an unearned run in the bottom of the inning. Reyes singled, advanced on a stolen base and passed ball, then scored on Rodriguez's sacrifice fly.

The Twins moved back in front with two out in the second on Kepler's team-leading 36th homer.

The Tigers sent 12 batters to the plate in the third while gaining an 8-2 lead. Rodriguez had his first two-run homer in the game during that inning. Victor Reyes had two hits during the outburst.

Homers by Polanco and Cron brought the Twins within three. Rodriguez made it 10-5 in the sixth with his second two-run shot, which just cleared the right field wall.
