Giancarlo Stanton belted a pair of solo homers to lift the visiting New York Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Friday.

Rougned Odor launched a two-run homer and Aaron Hicks added a solo shot for the Yankees, who went deep a season-high four times. The power display allowed New York to overcome a 3-0 first-inning deficit for the second time in as many days.

Franmil Reyes had an RBI double and Eddie Rosario and Amed Rosario each drove in a run for the Indians, who have lost three in a row and five of their last six games.

New York answered Cleveland's three-run first with a three-run second inning.

Hicks deposited a 2-1 slider from Logan Allen (1-3) over the wall in left field for his second homer of the season. Gary Sanchez followed with a single and Odor sent a 1-2 slider over the wall in right field to forge a tie at 3.

Stanton muscled a 2-1 fastball from Allen over the wall in left field to lead off the third inning. He gave New York a 5-3 lead in the fifth inning after launching an 0-2 fastball from Trevor Stephan over the wall in right-center field.

Stanton, who has gone deep a team-leading five times, recorded his first multi-homer performance in a regular-season game since Sept. 27, 2018. He entered Friday's contest mired in a 3-for-32 stretch with 15 strikeouts over his previous nine games.

Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery labored through 4 2/3 innings before Lucas Luetge (1-0) struck out Reyes to end the fifth. Luetge worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win, his first since Sept. 4, 2013 while pitching for the Seattle Mariners.

Darren O'Day and Chad Green bridged the gap to Aroldis Chapman, who retired the side in order in the ninth to secure his fourth save of the season.

Allen yielded four runs on five hits -- including three homers -- in 2 1/3 innings to take the loss.
