J.D. Martinez had three hits and blasted a three-run homer in the 10th inning as the visiting Boston Red Sox earned a 5-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.

Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-5 with a solo home run for Boston, which rallied for a 4-3 victory in Friday's series opener and has won its last three games, as well as five of its last six.

Martinez, who entered the game in a 0-for-20 skid, came to the plate with two on and no outs in the 10th inning against Nick Wittgren (2-7) and homered to right-center field for his first RBIs since Aug. 15.

Garrett Whitlock (6-2) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for Boston to earn the victory.

The Indians loaded the bases with one out in the 10th against Martin Perez, who was seeking his first career save.

Adam Ottavino replaced Perez and allowed Oscar Mercado's run-scoring single with two outs before getting Andres Gimenez to ground out with the bases loaded for his second save of the series and 10th of the season.

Indians starter Cal Quantrill ran into early trouble when he allowed Schwarber's one-out home run in the first inning. Martinez then singled and scored on Xander Bogaerts' double to left field for a 2-0 Red Sox advantage.

Quantrill settled in to allow two runs (one earned) on six hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out six.

The Indians tied the game in the second. Franmil Reyes blasted a leadoff homer off Nathan Eovaldi, his 24th, before Bradley Zimmer doubled and scored on Bobby Bradley's single to center.

Eovaldi allowed two runs on six hits with no walks over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven.

Cleveland threatened in the seventh with two on and two outs against Hirokazu Sawamura. After retiring the next two batters, Sawamura intentionally walked Jose Ramirez before striking out Reyes to end the inning.

Mercado, Reyes and Bradley each had two hits for Cleveland, which went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position. Reyes is 7-for-13 with two homers and four RBIs over his last four games.
